Story Time with Jack
Today, before his nap, Jack read me a story...

Pumpkin Patch!
Last weekend we had perfect weather to pick out our pumpkins. We headed over to the local farmstand where we had a tractor ride and a short walk through a corn maze that led us to the pumpkins! Thankfully, my Mom and Dad were with us to help wrangle Jack and our pumpkins back onto the tractor. Jack had a blast running around the pumpkin patch and he was so patient after our tractor ride back to the farmstand where we did some shopping and where I took some photos to capture orange for this week's You Capture Challenge...(Scroll down to see those)

Apple for dessert
Tonight, Jack had an apple for dessert. It's not the kind dessert I prefer, but he doesn't know that his Mom's definition of dessert involves chocolate. I really think though, that he enjoyed his apple just as much as I enjoy a chocolate chip cookie...
I asked him to make a funny face...this is what he came up with (it cracks me up):

Potty talk
I'll be honest, I don't really have a plan for potty training just yet. It's not that I haven't thought about it though...way back in May I did some research on potties and based on lots of great reviews, I decided on this one in a fun red color. Right now, my plan is to wait for Jack to start showing some signs that he's at least interested a bit. At this point, I don't want to pressure him and/or chase his little naked behind around the house with the potty if he's not ready. I do talk to him about what goes in the potty. He calls his potty by name (poddy) and he knows how to flush the real toilet. He LOVES to sit on the potty with his clothes on. But if I ask him if he wants his diaper off, he says no and if we try to put him on the potty when he's naked, forget it. His straightens his legs out and resists.
Well last night he did his usual hanging out on the potty with his clothes on and I asked if he wanted his diaper off and he said, YES! Wow. Rob and I were shocked. So I took his pants and diaper off. He then pointed to his potty and asked us to put water in it. I guess that's logical since he knows the real toilet has water in it. He sat right down and PEED! We were even more shocked and not prepared for that at all...We have to figure out how to make sure his boy parts are pointing in the right direction next time...In the end, Jack ended up with two animal crackers and a bath. :)
Fast forward to this afternoon...I tried sitting him on the potty and he was not interested. So with his diaper off, we made our way upstairs to get him ready for his nap. He wandered around his room with no diaper for no more than 5 minutes...I didn't even realize what happened until he was in his crib and I was picking books up off the floor when I saw a puddle...Oops. At least he missed the area rug. :)

The many faces of Jack 2
One of my favorite posts on this blog was The many faces of Jack. That was six months ago, so I thought it would be fun do another series of Jack faces for this weeks You Capture challenge over at I Should be Folding Laundry, where the theme is faces. It's crazy how much he's grown since that last series taken in April! But, of course the fact that he's a ham hasn't changed...

23 Months!
As of yesterday, my little Jack is only one month from turning the big two! He's been slowly losing his babyness and growing into a very sweet little boy. He's never been very cuddly, but lately, he's been into giving hugs. It usually happens when I get him up in the morning or up from his nap. He holds on tight around my neck and puts is head on my shoulder and says, "hug." And if I'm really lucky, when I try to put him down he sometimes holds on even tighter and says, "more hug." He even sat on my lap this morning, leaning against me, while we watched the last half of Sesame Street. Ahhh...I love it. :)
Here are his 23 month shots!
