A little stroll

Jack took a stroll today across the living room! Here is the evidence...
(Sorry for the shakiness, I was on my knees trying to back up!)

Picnic at Ft. Adams

We took the short ride to Newport on Saturday for a picnic. It was a gorgeous spring day!

Rob and I took turns taking loooong walks with Jack. Jack was in charge and he guided us all around, pulling us by the finger, while managing the hills and bumpy terrain like a champ.

After lunch, we stopped for ice cream. Jack even had his own chocolate soft serve in a cone. I think he's the only kid in the world that doesn't like ice cream!

Oh well, that left more for us! :)

In honor of Earth Day...

Jack and I met some friends today for a picnic in the park. It's the perfect place to roll out a blanket for us moms, and to let the kids run/crawl around. Jack had fun with his friends, Euan and Laila, chasing balls and bubbles. Of course, he couldn't really compete while on his knees...but I know that very soon I'll be chasing him all over the place.

Well, this morning when I was packing our lunch, it crossed my mind that I have to get out of the habit of using so many plastic baggies! I actually used two for apple slices and goldfish crackers. Bad me. Well, in honor of Earth Day, I am going to cut down (I can't quite bring myself to say cut out) my plastic baggie use! Check out these cute reusable bags!

Climbing

Jack really doesn't want to miss anything. When we changed the furniture around in the living room, he figured out all by himself how to get to the windows to see whats happening around the neighborhood...

Here he is in-motion...

One year ago today...

One year ago today, we moved into our house. It is so hard to believe that we've been here for that long!

Just for a little comparison...here is Jack the day we moved in one year ago:

And here is Jack snoozing in the car on the way to the Cape last weekend:

Still as cute as ever! :)

We are looking forward to see what the next year in our little cape brings us!

Wall decals

I am sort of obsessed with these wall decals that I found on etsy today. I would love to decorate the whole house with them.

This one might be cute in Jack's room.

Maybe we need some birch trees in the dining room.

This one just makes me happy.

I might keep this one in my back pocket if we ever have a little girl.

And I also like this,

this,

and this.

My boots

There are only a few puddles here and there in our basement. And that means, as much as I love my rain boots, I don't have to wear them to do laundry any more! Yay!

Easter weekend

Here are a few shots from our weekend visting Lauren, Sam and Maia for the holiday...We had a great time and Lauren and Sam made it a memorable Easter with lots of fun and good food!

Thanks guys!

Easter Egg hunt #1 (Jack "found" three!)

Jack and Maia's visit with the (scary) Easter Bunny

Beach walk (Jack did not like the sand on his hands)

Jack: "Hey, Maia, wanna race?"

Peeking into Maia's house. Look closely, Grandma is in there too!

Easter egg hunt #2 at the Ledwells. The adults even got to hunt for eggs with a scratch ticket inside...I didn't win.

Jack and Maia checking out their loot.

Easter baskets! Maia was so excited about hers. She was adorable. Jack just wanted to play with the plastic eggs.

And last, but not least, Jack's 17 month picture...

Cookie decorating

Today during Jack's nap I worked on decorating these:

I will never be a professional cookie decorator, but I did have fun.

And Jack had fun eating them.

Scenes from our walk

Jack and I took a really nice walk around the neighborhood this morning. It is soooo gorgeous outside. There was a lot to see today. We saw that at least every other house had a hose coming out of the basement window to purge out all of the water.

It looks like these poor folks lost a lot. They had a huge dumpster in the yard too.

Rob and I were really lucky. Once we heard our sump pump coming on in 10 second intervals the night of the torrential rain, we decided to move as much as we could out of the basement since we were worried the pump wouldn't be able to keep up. It was a good thing too, since the entire basement is now wet, and we'll have to pull up the rest of the carpet and maybe remove some drywall. Oh well, others have it a lot worse than we do.

This is the front yard of a neighbor that lives right around the corner from us...

Other than that, we saw lots of flowers blooming and kids playing in puddles and of course, here is our cute Jack.
